I must admit-- My heart hurts. This woman empowered me and showed me ways to find peace throughout my life. I almost even named my daughter after her. Instead, I sometimes call her Maya as a nickname. The world has lost a wonderful soul, but I guess God needed her back for other work. RIP Ms. Maya Angelou. Your absence will be felt around the world.

That was my fb shout out to a woman that inspired and empowered me; but it doesn't do her, or her life, justice. I was never lucky enough to meet her in person, but I always felt her presence and her lovely spirit.

Since the news of her death, many sites have posted about her achievements in life, some of her quotes, and how she made people feel. I will post a few of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes that will hopefully touch your soul as they did mine.
